Sugar Processing1992 Hugh Coulter was team leader (economics and marketing) with other experts in sugar processing and agriculture on a pre-investment study. A commercially viable business plan was developed that was market led, covering domestic demand and regional exports.

The study was market led, covering domestic demand and regional exports. A commercially viable business plan was developed for further processed chicken.

Bahamas

Commercial Farm Development Project1986 Wayne Borden carried out a feasibility study on the establishment of a commercial farming venture on Grand Bahama. A reconnaissance report was prepared for presentation to a potential investor.

 Barbados

Land Identification and Selection1985 Wayne Borden, soil and land resource specialist visited Jamaica to identify land suitable for irrigated vegetable production. The study included visits to Government and private farms to inspect soils, topography, quantity and quality of water for irrigation; discussions with Government officials; and preparation of a report including options and recommendations.

Fruit Juice Processing and Packaging1997 Dan Nicholson was team leader and processing / packaging specialist advising government on markets, processing and equipment specifications, and packaging of fruit juices for export (concentrate / single strength grapefruit, passion fruit, mango, guava, papaya, soursop, carambola, pineapple)

Pre-investment Appraisal1997 Bill Mitchell was the coffee specialist on a team appraising private sector investment proposal for arabica coffee production and marketing project.

Brazil

Tobacco/Food Crops Study1988 Alan Willens supervised the implementation of a detailed socio economic survey of 450 smallscale tobacco and non tobacco farmers in a tobacco growing region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. Detailed statistical analysis of the data was carried out using advanced computer software packages. A comprehensive report on the findings of the survey was prepared.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Study of Potential Market for Vernonia Oil1990 Jim Turnbull led a team to provide background on the potential applications for the oil. This was followed by visits to the Coatings Research Institute at Ypsilanti, Michigan and to potential end users in the trade. The study concluded that a substantial market for the oil did exist if it could be provided at competitive prices.
