Private Sector Development in Southern Africa: 1996: Gene Miller provided the
Business Development/ Agribusiness Marketing expertise for a team, supported in each country by local consultants. The team identified high opportunity sub
-sectors and the main operating constraints to indigenous micro, small and medium enterprises competing or interested in competing in these sub-sectors.
Financial and technical assistance was proposed that could be channelled through the Southern Africa Enterprise Development Fund. The lessons learnt will be used
to focus SAEDF activities in the region. The project was co-ordinated in the UK by Jim Turnbull and in the USA by Jim Maxwell.

Study of the Agricultural/Agro- Industrial Sector: 1994:
An identification mission led by Alan Willens, to analyse the agrarian sector in the region and recommend strategies for future development. A baseline report was prepared identifying
projects suitable for regional co-operation using international funds, and submitted to the Multilateral Working Group on Regional Economic Development.
Special attention was paid to national policies and planning in the agricultural and agro-industrial sectors, including marketing and trade policies.
GAZA & WEST BANKCut Flower Production: 1997: Roger White carried out a
study to develop a commercial operation. Production, packaging and export markets were covered.
